As part of our science unit, students sorted rocks by their properties, such as color, size, and shape. En they played a game in which one partner sorted a few rocks without telling the "rule" and the other partners added rocks that they thought fit the rule. A good exercise in logical thinking!

Today groups of students rotated through five stations to revise their writing. At the Spelling Station they wrote words three ways on Post-It notes to try to find correct spellings. At the Word Choice Station they tried to come up with stronger words. At the Punctuation Station they worked together to figure out where to put ending punctuation. At the Talking Station they added dialogue to their stories and tried to think of more expressive words than "said." And at the Endings Station they worked together to improve their story endings.
